Herb seed mix: cilantro FAQ

When should I plant these herbs?

Cilantro, dill and caraway prefer cool weather: sow in spring in cold regions, or fall through late winter in warm regions (zones 8–10). Sow culantro after last frost; it likes warmth and some shade.

Why does my cilantro bolt so fast?

Heat and long days trigger flowering. Sow in cool weather (fall in warm regions) and sow small batches every 2–3 weeks.

When will caraway make seeds?

Caraway is biennial: it grows leaves the first year and flowers and sets seed the second.

Can I grow them in containers?

Yes, all four grow in pots at least 8 inches deep; dill needs more depth for its height.
