Planting & Germination
Long-Headed Coneflower seeds require cold stratification to break dormancy and improve germination. The easiest method is to sow the seeds outdoors in fall or very early spring, allowing natural winter conditions to provide the required cold period.
For controlled stratification, keep the seeds in a moist medium at approximately 40°F for the required cold period, then sow them into well-draining soil. Seeds should be surface sown or pressed lightly into the soil rather than buried deeply.
Once germinated and established, Long-Headed Coneflower develops into a hardy, long-lived perennial that tolerates cold, heat, and dry conditions.
