Khas / vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides) is a tough, clumping grass that is reliably perennial in USDA zones 9–11; it is frost-tender, so in zone 8 mulch it heavily, and in colder regions grow it in a pot you can protect during hard freezes. The roots are used to make cooling and flavorful syrups for cold drinks. The blades are used to make several artifacts and curtains. Its deep, dense roots make it a perfect grass to prevent soil erosion on slopes.
Ships as a live plant in a 1 gallon pot.
